Top technologies for the Warfighter

In Military Embedded Systems’ third-annual look at commercial technologies coming to a battlefield, Tail-f Systems is highlighted a solution for network management software opening up standards through support for NETCONF and SNMP. The availability of such standards can give a real edge to battlefield networks and directly benefitting the warfighter in programs such as the Navy’s Aegis/Common Processing System.

NETCONF: A new approach to network management

This article published in CompactPCI and AdvancedTCA Systems presents a summary of the joint research project of the NETCONF protocol between Tail-f Systems, Stockholm, Sweden, and DePaul University, Chicago, Illinois. The objective of the research project is to develop a network management system on top of a platform that employs XML-based software that can be installed in the managed device to act as an agent daemon. The platform can formally define the configuration requirements and collect the data from various network devices to validate the provisioned configurations.
