Cisco Announces Intent to Acquire Tail-f — Acquisition Advances Cisco’s Cloud Virtualization Portfolio with Industry-Leading Network Service Orchestration Technology
Fredrik LundbergJune 17, 2014
Today is an exciting day for us at Tail-f: Cisco is announcing their intent to acquire us to accelerate the pace in which they can address service orchestration challenges. The explicit goal is to simplify and automate the provisioning and management of both physical and virtual infrastructure services in multi-vendor networks.
We’re looking forward to bringing our open, standards-based and model-driven service orchestration NCS software to more customers and partners as part of Cisco’s global presence.
We’re also excited about the opportunity to leverage our market-leading on-device ConfD solution to accelerate the speed of adoption of NETCONF and YANG for programmable network functions.
This acquisition demonstrates Cisco’s commitment to open standards including the NETCONF protocol and the YANG data modeling language, and provides an unprecedented opportunity for lasting change in the way our industry designs, builds and maintains programmable networks.
