ConfM

ConfM is a Java-based software library that allows developers to augment EMS/NMS applications with support for southbound NETCONF sessions.

NETCONF is a protocol designed to install, manipulate, and delete the configuration of network devices. NETCONF operations are realized on top of a Remote Procedure Call (RPC) layer. NETCONF is an IETF standard that is widely supported on carrier-grade network devices.

EMS/NMS applications using NETCONF help network operators reduce configuration errors and resulting risk of network outages. Furthermore, by automating the process of network configuration, operators can manage networks with fewer or less senior people, thereby reducing OPEX costs.

Differentiate EMS/NMS Applications

  • Add southbound configuration management
  • Full NETCONF support (RFCs 4741, 4742, and 5277)

Reduced Time-to-Market

  • Designed for rapid development
  • Validation of Java code against underlying data models

Flexible Deployment

  • Choice of XML API for data manipulation
  • Pure Java implementation providing broad platform support
