Tail-f Systems announces a number of new features in its ConfD software solution for on-device configuration management. Based on customer feedback from deployments in tier-1 networks, the company developed a host of additions to the Command Line Interfaces (CLIs), including support for Annotation and Tag functions that offer network operators the tools to deliver greater configuration control and operational productivity.
ConfD allows developers to rapidly generate CLI, Web, SNMP, and NETCONF interfaces from a single data model, and provides a robust infrastructure to manage transactions, security, and continuous availability. Given the extensive vocabulary of commands and queries CLIs manage, Tail-f designed its new Annotation and Tag features to enable device administrators to filter and comment on configuration stages by adding metadata to the configuration database. This capability helps operators more efficiently manage network elements with very large configuration data sets.

The Annotation and Tag, features, along with many others, are available in Tail-f’s ConfD 3.0 software for demonstration and evaluation upon customer request.
